Botanical family: Umbelliferae

Origin: Mediterranean region.

Description: Herby, slightly spicy, pungent but sweet

History: Named after the Greek word ‘petros’ meaning rock or stone which is where parsley prefers to be grown. A much loved and used garden herb, the essential benefits of Parsley are not often known.

Properties and Indications:

  • Diuretic
  • Digestive stimulant
  • Excellent for halitosis (bad breath)
  • Useful for cellulite
  • Could ease menopausal symptoms
  • Good for poor circulation
  • Can help ease muscle problems including arthritis
  • Helpful for urinary problems such as thrush and cystitis
  • Good for dry and aging skin
  • Uplifting and cleansing

Contra-indications:

  • Not to be used in pregnancy
  • Avoid using if any existing kidney problems are present
