Origin: Malaysia, Philippines and Australia.
Description: Pharmaceutical, therapeutical aroma with a slight ‘cats’ smell
History: ‘Kayu puteh’ means white wood in Malaysian – sometimes referred to as the White Tea Tree.
Properties and Indications:
- Highly sudorific – promotes sweating
- Powerful intestinal antiseptic and cleanser – useful for gastroenteritis, dysentery, illness’s caused by organisms living in water, eg. amoebas
- Intestinal parasites
- Swampy type illness’s such as malaria
- Urinary infections such as cystitis
- Cold and damp illnesses
- Especially good for the onset of colds or flu
- Lung congestion – has an expectorant quality
- Rheumatism
- Can be used for dermatitis if other oils don’t seem effective
Contra-indications:
- If inhaled too much or taken internally can be emetic (cause vomiting)
Blending:
- Bergamot, Birch, Citronella, Clove, Geranium, Lavender, Niaouli, Nutmeg, Rose, Rosewood, Thyme
- Can be distilled in hot countries to clear the air
